All our Heavenly bodies products are suitable to use for vegans, however we have a whim....just on this occassion to indulge ourselves in total luxury....we love the idea of using silk in our next batch of soap. Others before have said it has amazing qualities & the texture...well it`s like silk!!
So, what is Tussah Silk?? Tussah is a humane silk gathered from silk worms that live naturally in tropical or semi tropical forest. Once the moth has emerged from the cocoon these fibres can be used. This soap would be described as not vegan friendly, but veggie friendly as the moths are not harmed in any way, just as we take the excess honey from the bees & the bees are unharmed.
The combination of silk & honey is one that will be fabulous on your skin, honey is said to have anti-aging properties...a humectant, having the ability to attract and retain moisture, & to re build the moisture level in the skin without making it oily.
This is how our silk looks now, but as we go through the cold process method we will add the silk to to our soap and it will break down..re forming again as the soap hardens, ( this is the plan anyway!!)
Soap making is an exciting process, adding new ingredients & taking some away. By using natural oils & sourcing through uk suppliers we are happy to be individual in our soapmaking as our recipes are assessed by qualified cosmetic chemists.
So watch this space, we will be posting the process right here on the blog, dont forget...it will be 4 weeks till it`s ready for our shop...I know....patience is a virtue x
